Science Links and ResourcesThis is a small collection of science resources that provide useful information in discussions about scientific matters.
For those resources that were suggested by others, I have included a "recommended by" notice following the abstracts (with a link to their personal web site or social networking account if known) -- thank you to everyone for your wonderful suggestions. If you know of a science resource that should be included in this list, please contact me so that I may include it (after I review it for suitability, etc.).
ChemSpider
by the Royal Society of Chemistry ChemSpider is a free chemical structure database providing fast access to over 67 million structures, properties, and associated information. By integrating and linking compounds from hundreds of high-quality data sources, ChemSpider enables researchers to discover the most comprehensive view of freely available chemical data from a single online search. PubChem
by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (USA) PubChem is the world's largest collection of freely accessible chemical information. You can use this tool to search chemicals by name, molecular formula, structure, and other identifiers to find chemical and physical properties, biological activities, safety and toxicity information, patents, literature citations, and more. Vaccine ingredients
by the University of Oxford The Vaccine Knowledge Project, which is published by Oxford Vaccine Group of the University of Oxford, aims to be a source of independent information about vaccines and infectious diseases. The information provided in this guide is very detailed and highly informative, and also just happens to serve well in dispelling the myths, frauds, scams, and general misinformation perpetuated by members of the anti-vaccination community. Vaccines & Immunizations
by the Centres for Disease Control (USA) Back in 1946, the Communicable Disease Center, as the agency was then known, was created from a wartime agency devoted to malaria control. Today, the nation's prevention agency works 24/7 protecting people from diseases, injuries, and disabilities, as well as other health problems associated with natural disasters and bioterrorism attacks. Of particular interest, the CDC maintains a current English language Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) for each vaccine at: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/... |
